Kioti CX2510 vs. John Deere 1025R: Is the Kioti Tractor a Better Value?

While the John Deere 1025R is a well-known sub-compact tractor, the Kioti CX2510 is a slightly larger compact tractor that competes in the same price range. I’ve owned my Kioti CX2510 for around 20 hours of use, and though I’m no tractor expert, I’ve found it to be an incredible value, especially when you compare it to the John Deere.
For instance, the John Deere 1025R with a loader currently costs $30,000 CAD, while my Kioti CX2510 with a loader came in at $24,900 CAD. That’s over $5,000 cheaper, and for that price difference, the Kioti offers more capability in several key areas.

The Kioti CX2510 is a heavier-duty tractor, weighing 2,300 lbs without the loader. In comparison, the John Deere 1025R weighs 1,556 lbs. That’s a difference of almost 800 lbs, which can translate into better stability and lifting capacity for the Kioti.
Despite the weight difference, these tractors are relatively close in size. The Kioti’s wheelbase is 59.8 inches, just slightly longer than the John Deere’s 57.1 inches. So while the Kioti is a bit bigger and heavier, it’s still very maneuverable for tasks around an acreage or small farm.
Lift Capacity and Performance
When it comes to 3-point hitch capacity, the Kioti CX2510 can lift over 1,220 lbs, whereas the John Deere 1025R can only manage 758 lbs. This gives the Kioti an edge if you need to lift heavier equipment or materials, especially when working with a loader.

As I mentioned earlier, the price difference is significant. I paid $24,900 CAD for my Kioti CX2510 with a loader, while a similar setup for the John Deere 1025R costs $30,000 CAD. In the U.S., that price difference could be even more dramatic after converting from Canadian dollars.
For $5,000 less, the Kioti offers more in terms of lifting capacity, engine power, and overall tractor weight. If you’re looking for more bang for your buck, it’s hard to ignore the value that Kioti provides compared to John Deere.
The Unknowns: Long-Term Reliability
While I’m thrilled with my Kioti so far, I have to admit there are some unknowns when it comes to long-term reliability. John Deere has a long history and a reputation for producing durable, long-lasting tractors. The Kioti CX2510 is newer to the market, and while its specs are impressive, only time will tell how it holds up over the years.
That said, both Kioti and John Deere offer a 6-year warranty, which should give you peace of mind no matter which brand you choose. And with parts availability likely to be better for John Deere due to their larger network, that could be one area where John Deere still holds an advantage.
